Woven Video vs MirrorCut: Mac editing or browser review?

Choose between a native Mac timeline and a browser-based review workflow, with a clear look at trials, credits and delivery limits.

Woven Video is the closer fit when you want a native Mac editor with chat and direct timeline control. MirrorCut is worth investigating when you want browser-based edits from recorded footage with changes you can accept or revert. Both require review of AI output; neither credit allowance guarantees a fixed number of finished videos.

The decision starts with your editing environment

If you already work on a Mac and want a visible timeline to refine after a chat instruction, Woven is built around that arrangement. MirrorCut puts the review loop in a browser: bring a recording, inspect the proposed changes and keep or revert them. This is a workflow distinction, not evidence that one produces better videos.

Where each editor fits

Woven describes a native macOS editor for long and short videos, with captions, effects and generated-media workflows. Local project files should not be confused with fully local AI: requests can send relevant content to the chosen service. A creator handling sensitive recordings should inspect that boundary before importing client footage.

MirrorCut focuses on recorded footage for ads, Shorts and Reels. Its public workflow includes removing pauses, finding shorter moments, captions and reframing, followed by an editable timeline. That may suit a talking-head or interview workflow. Suggested highlights still need a human check for context, speaker intent and factual accuracy.

What the headline price leaves out

Woven lists US$39 month-to-month or US$299 billed yearly, with a three-day card-required trial. Its pricing page lists US$10 of monthly hosted-AI credits, trial credits and optional top-ups. Treat the subscription and model usage as separate budgeting questions. An annual effective monthly price is not a monthly cancellation commitment.

MirrorCut lists Creator at US$10/month, Pro at US$30 and Studio at US$60. The Creator trial lasts seven days and requires a card. The plans separate AI request credits, generated-media credits, upload time, storage and export time; a larger plan primarily increases allowances. Manual timeline editing does not use AI credits according to its pricing page.

The two credit systems are not interchangeable. Before paying, ask what a representative project costs after transcription, revisions and generated assets. A lower starting subscription can be the right purchase for a small workload, but it does not establish the lowest cost for your finished episode.

Check the handoff, not just the preview

MirrorCut advertises MP4 exports up to 4K and SRT/VTT captions; professional project handoffs such as Premiere Pro and After Effects are marked as coming soon. Do not purchase on the assumption that a roadmap export is already available. For either editor, verify your required file, caption styling and destination workflow inside the current product.

A practical trial is one short recording you are allowed to upload. Ask for the same cut, correct a caption, change the framing and export. Inspect whether a later revision breaks the first correction. Record the plan and remaining allowances. This is our suggested evaluation procedure, not a test we performed.

Our source-based recommendation

Start with Woven if a native Mac timeline is central to your workflow. Investigate MirrorCut if you prefer browser access and an explicit accept-or-revert review loop around your recordings. If you need a guaranteed offline AI pipeline, verified speed results or a professional project interchange, this comparison does not establish that either meets the requirement.
