What does Synthesia Syren do?

Syren is Synthesia’s beta video agent for creating short, designed videos from a prompt and optional reference material. It supports chat-based revisions, portrait or landscape output and videos up to three minutes; the first-video launch offer has credit and watermark limits.

A prompt-to-video agent for short marketing work

Syren is a distinct workflow within Synthesia, rather than a new name for every feature in Synthesia Studio. The official page positions it around a short creative brief, a generated first draft and conversational revisions. This is most relevant when you want an explainer, feature introduction or launch asset and are prepared to review the result before publishing it.

Give the agent a brief it can act on

A useful evaluation brief would identify the audience, the single product claim, the action viewers should take and the destination format. Attach only materials you have permission to use. A one-page launch brief and a few approved screenshots are more controlled inputs than an unexplained folder of assets. Ask for a short draft before investing the allowance in a longer production.

The official FAQ says references can include documents, images, videos, PowerPoint files and YouTube links. After the first draft, chat requests can change the script, avatar, voice or scene styling. Check the exact wording of prices, features and customer promises against the source material; fluent narration does not establish that a product claim is true.

Trial credits are not an unlimited free video plan

The Syren FAQ describes launch credits for a first free video, valid for one month and subject to fair usage caps. It also explicitly says free-plan videos include a watermark. The same page gives a typical estimate of 1,000–2,000 credits for a two-minute video with up to two rounds of edits. This is the vendor’s example, not a measured cost for your project.

Actual credit use depends on duration, complexity and revisions. Before generating, check the balance and whether subsequent work consumes standard account credits. Do not infer Syren’s exact allowance from a general Synthesia plan headline. Confirm the selected account terms and the export you need before paying.

Where Syren ends and Studio begins

At the time of research, the official limit was three minutes in portrait or landscape format. Basic colour branding was available, while fuller custom brand kits were described as upcoming. The FAQ directs users who need a Personal Avatar or cloned voice to Synthesia Studio. Those differences matter if your whole channel depends on one consistent presenter.

For exact, repeatable training scripts or localisation across a large content library, compare the Studio workflow as well. For a drawn explainer, a specialised format may fit better than an avatar-led or motion-graphics draft.
